Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy is part of the Plantains Terms of Service. It applies to everyone with a Plantains account and to everything published through it. Plantains is for registering people for real events and activities, run honestly and lawfully.

You may not use Plantains to:

Mislead or defraud people

Take registrations or payments for an event that doesn't exist, that you aren't authorized to run, or that you don't intend to hold as described.
Impersonate another person, organization or event, or misrepresent who is running an event or where money goes.
Run fundraising, donations or charitable appeals that are false or that break charitable solicitation laws.
Run lotteries, raffles, sweepstakes or gambling unless they comply with the law where they're offered.

Sell or promote what isn't allowed

Sell anything illegal, or anything Stripe prohibits (Stripe's restricted businesses), including weapons, drugs, adult content or services.
Promote violence, terrorism, hate or discrimination against people based on protected characteristics, or harass, threaten or exploit anyone, including minors.
Publish content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights.

Misuse people's information

Collect information you don't need for your event, or use registrants' information in ways they wouldn't expect or haven't agreed to.
Collect payment card numbers outside Stripe's payment fields, Social Security or other government ID numbers, bank account numbers, or passwords through form questions.
Send spam, or use registrant email addresses for marketing without a lawful basis and consent.
Sell or rent registrants' personal information.

Abuse the Service

Probe, scan or test the security of Plantains, or bypass any security, access or role limits, without our written permission. (To report a vulnerability, email legal@plantains.app.)
Upload malware, or interfere with or overload the Service or other people's use of it.
Scrape, crawl or copy the Service or other accounts' content by automated means.
Avoid fees or plan limits, for example by splitting one account into several, routing payments outside Plantains' payment flow to avoid Platform Fees, or misusing complimentary accounts.
Resell or rent access to the Service, or let people outside your organization use your account, without our written permission.
Create accounts by automated means or with false information.

Abuse payments

Process payments unrelated to registrations on your forms, or use Plantains to move money for others.
Create excessive refunds, disputes or chargebacks, or ignore registrants' legitimate refund requests under your own policies.

Enforcement

We may investigate suspected violations. If we find one, we may, depending on how serious it is, warn you, remove content, take a form offline, limit features, or suspend or close your account, and we may report illegal activity to the authorities or Stripe. Where possible we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix it, but we may act immediately to protect registrants, Stripe, us or others.

Reporting

To report misuse of Plantains, including a suspicious form, email legal@plantains.app with a link to the form and what you've seen.
